A fountain with bizarre figures was opened in Vienna for 1.8 million euros: photos
A fountain with 33 strange figures has appeared in Vienna, which cost the city budget approx. 1.8 million euros.
The sculptural composition was created by the art group Gelatin and 15 of their assistants. 20 years ago, they built the Arc de Triomphe in Salzburg with a figure of a man building a bridge and urinating in his own mouth. Then the arch had to be dismantled due to mass protests, Heute reports.
The water feature consists of 33 figures and has a diameter of 7.5 meters. According to the city of Vienna, the Wiener Wasser project cost 1.8 million euros. Initially, there was talk of 2.1 million euros as the ghj maximum cost. "Many thanks to the city of Vienna, which has fully funded the Jubilee Fountain," said District Mayor Markus Franz (SP) of Vienna-Favoriten.
The project of this facility was very controversial. A group of local residents and activists stormed the "luxurious fountain", considering it unnecessary. There was even a signature campaign against it.
