A tourist dies in the mountains of Slovakia as a result of a bear attack
In the Slovak Tatras, two tourists met a bear on a mountain trail, and a woman died while fleeing from it.
This was reported by the mountain rescue service. The incident occurred in the evening in the mountains in the Liptov region. The rescuers received a call from a witness that two people had met a bear on a tourist mountain trail and were trying to escape from it. The predator allegedly chased the woman, they disappeared from sight and she did not respond when her companion tried to call her.
Rescuers quickly arrived at the scene with a sniffer dog. The dog almost immediately found the place where the woman had fallen down a steep slope while running away and died. The man remained unharmed.
The bear was still wandering around and tried to approach the people again, and had to be driven away with shouts and a warning shot.
It turned out that the 31-year-old woman and 29-year-old man were Belarusians.
As TravelWise reported, in the Slovak town of Liptovsky Mikulas, a bear attacked passers-by for the second time in three days. Two people are in the hospital.
