A Year of Tests: Turkey Calls for Abandoning the Image of an Affordable Tourist Destination
Turkey has stated that the country should get rid of the usual image of a "cheap country" for foreign tourists. This was stated by the chairman of the Turkish Hoteliers Federation TÜROFED Erkan Yaggi.
According to him, 2024 will be a test year for tourism in Turkey, however, the country should offer its products at the price they deserve. This was reported by Turizm Güncel.
Erkan Yaggi said that Turkey was known as a cheap destination, but now the country has to overcome this. He emphasized that Turkish hotels should be sold at the price they deserve, according to their classification and level of service.
"2024 will be a testing year for us after 2019. Because there has been a price increase in Turkey. This will be a test year for these price increases to be accepted in the world. This year it is extremely important that we think about tourism revenues, not the number of tourists. It will be very important for us to maintain the level we have achieved and be prepared for the future," said Ekran Yaggi.
