Abu Dhabi and Sohar to be connected by a rail network: $3 billion project
International engineering consulting company Tetraturk has been awarded the contract to design the infrastructure for the Abu Dhabi-Sohar section of the UAE-Oman rail network. The network is being developed by Oman and Etihad Rail, the developer and operator of the rail network connecting the two countries.
The total investment is $3 billion. The project will facilitate transportation between the UAE capital Abu Dhabi and the Omani port city of Sohar. This was reported by Zawya.
According to the deal, Tetraturk will develop road designs, track works, road and rail drainage works, hydrology and runoff assessment report, bridge and culvert scour analysis, and tender documents.
Oman-Etihad Rail will lay the foundation and work plan for the project, including its financial arrangements and schedule.
The company will also design, develop and operate the rail network connecting Sohar and Abu Dhabi in accordance with the standards of the two countries.
