Air Canada Flight Canceled After Flight Attendant's Outburst
Passengers on an Air Canada flight from Morocco to Canada were taken aback when a flight attendant began yelling at them, leading to the cancellation of the flight. The incident occurred on July 26 on flight AC73, which was scheduled to depart from Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) at 08:50, bound for Montreal Trudeau International Airport (YUL).
Flight AC73, which operates six times weekly between the two cities, had already left the gate and was taxiing towards the runway when the disturbance took place. Following the event, the decision was made to return to the gate for the safety of all onboard.
Incident Captured on Video
A video shared by FL360aero on X (formerly Twitter) shows the bilingual flight attendant yelling at passengers in both French and English. The attendant can be heard saying, "I don't want no bullying against my crew, ok? Everyone behave." The situation escalated after a passenger requested a blanket due to the cold temperature caused by excessive air conditioning. This led to tensions, and the flight attendant called local police to remove the passenger from the aircraft. In solidarity with the disembarked passenger, several other travelers also chose to leave the plane, prompting Air Canada to cancel the flight.
The aircraft involved was a 23-year-old Airbus A330-300, registered as C-GHLM. This aircraft is configured with 32 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 241 economy class seats, and is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 772B-60 engines.
Replacement Flight
The following day, Air Canada scheduled a replacement flight, AC2073, which departed on July 27 at 15:08 and arrived in Montreal after a seven-hour and 11-minute journey. It remains unclear if the flight attendant involved in the incident was part of the replacement flight's crew.
Air Canada competes with Royal Air Maroc on this route, with the Moroccan carrier offering twice-daily flights using Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft.
