Air Canada Takes Hockey Fan Engagement to New Heights with the First PWHL Fan Flight
Air Canada has kicked off an exciting initiative by introducing the first-ever Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) edition of its Fan Flight program. This remarkable event offers young fans a unique opportunity to support their favorite teams at the PWHL Finals.
The announcement comes as a significant boost to the newly formed PWHL, marking its debut season. As an inaugural partner, Air Canada celebrates this venture by enhancing fan experiences, demonstrating a strong commitment to gender equality in sports. Andy Shibata, Vice President, Brand at Air Canada, expressed enthusiasm about bringing fans closer to the thrill of playoffs, emphasizing the program's role in connecting the community with the electrifying atmosphere of live sports.
The PWHL has made considerable strides in its first season, notably setting attendance records. A landmark game held at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena drew an unprecedented 19,285 attendees, making it the most attended women's hockey game to date. The upcoming game in Montreal's Bell Centre is also expected to make history, with all tickets sold out swiftly.
This initiative not only highlights the league's success but also underscores Air Canada's broader efforts to support professional women's sports, building on previous collaborations with entities like the WNBA and the forthcoming Project 8 professional women's soccer league in Canada.
Canadian residents can participate in the Air Canada Fan Flight program by nominating a deserving young PWHL fan through the airline's website. Winners will be awarded complimentary airfare, accommodation, and tickets to the PWHL Finals, enhancing their experience with additional surprises.
