Air Montenegro Launches Podgorica-Ostrava Route
On June 19, 2024, Air Montenegro inaugurated a new flight route from Podgorica to Ostrava, the airline's third destination in the Czech Republic. The route will be serviced every Tuesday.
The first flight, MNE 390, was welcomed at Leos Janacek Airport in Ostrava with a water cannon salute. Officials from the Moravia-Silesia region and representatives of both the airport and Air Montenegro greeted the passengers.
In addition to Ostrava, Air Montenegro operates regular flights to Prague and Brno and offers charter flights to Pardubice. This schedule provides flights to the Czech Republic every day except Friday.
Mina Muković Radonjić of Air Montenegro noted the importance of the Czech market for the airline, highlighting the expansion of routes since the company's inception. The Deputy Governor of the Moravian-Silesian region, Martin Gebauer, welcomed the new route, emphasizing the convenience for local residents who previously had to travel to more distant airports.
Ondrej Musil, Passenger Development Manager at Leos Janacek Airport, mentioned that Montenegro is a popular destination for tourists from the region. He noted that the first flight was fully booked, suggesting strong demand for the new route.
Ostrava, the third-largest city in the Czech Republic, is known for its industrial heritage and vibrant cultural scene. Located at the confluence of the Ostravice, Oder, and Opava rivers, Ostrava offers a mix of historical and modern attractions, making it an appealing destination.
