Air New Zealand Revives Seasonal Flights to Sunshine Coast
Air New Zealand will resume its seasonal flights to the Sunshine Coast starting June 26, 2024. This service offers a timely escape for New Zealanders seeking relief from the winter cold.
The airline will operate flights three times a week—on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—until October 2024. This direct service between Auckland and Maroochydore, which takes just four hours, allows travelers to reach the sunny beaches of the Sunshine Coast by lunchtime.
Jeremy O’Brien, Air New Zealand's General Manager International, expressed enthusiasm about the service's return. He noted a strong demand for bookings to the Sunshine Coast, indicating that Kiwis are eager to escape the chilly New Zealand winter.
The Sunshine Coast is a beloved destination for its relaxed beachside culture, excellent cuisine, stunning scenery, and an impressive 300 days of sunshine annually. This season, passengers will benefit from Air New Zealand’s new "Seats to Suit" offering on short-haul international flights, which includes free movies, entertainment, snacks, and flexible booking options.
Air New Zealand also serves seven other Australian destinations during the winter, including Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Cairns, and the Gold Coast. This highlights Australia’s importance as a market for the airline. The seasonal service not only caters to New Zealand travelers but also offers Australian customers opportunities to explore New Zealand's winter attractions.
The Auckland-Sunshine Coast flights will be operated using Airbus 320neo aircraft, ensuring a comfortable journey for all passengers. With the seasonal service running from June 26 to October 25, 2024, Air New Zealand looks forward to connecting more travelers between New Zealand and the Sunshine Coast.
