Akasa Air Launches Daily Direct Flights from Mumbai to Abu Dhabi
Akasa Air, India's rapidly expanding airline, has begun operations in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with a new daily direct route from Mumbai. The inaugural flight took off from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 17:05 IST on July 11, 2024, and is scheduled to land at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi at 18:50 AST.
The maiden flight's departure was marked by a ceremonial event at Mumbai's airport, featuring the lighting of a ceremonial lamp by Akasa Air’s Executive Committee. Mumbai International Airport Limited's leadership also attended, and a special boarding pass was given to the first passenger.
This new service offers travelers reliable and affordable flight options between India and the UAE. Neelu Khatri, Co-Founder and SVP International at Akasa Air, highlighted the significance of the Mumbai-Abu Dhabi route for both leisure and business travelers.
Akasa Air’s international debut in March 2024 included flights to Doha and Riyadh, with plans for further expansion. The airline's modern fleet offers ample legroom and USB ports for device charging, enhancing passenger comfort.
The introduction of this route also taps into Abu Dhabi's growing appeal as a tourist destination, known for attractions like the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Ferrari World. Additionally, business travelers benefit from the city’s expanding trade opportunities and significant Indian diaspora.
