Alaska Airlines Expands Anchorage Lounge for Enhanced Passenger Experience
This month, Alaska Airlines began work on expanding and renovating its Lounge at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Scheduled for completion this summer, the project will more than double the seating capacity from 65 to 135, offering members and guests improved comfort and panoramic views of the tarmac and beyond.
The expansion will add nearly 2,600 square feet, featuring a variety of comfortable seating options, including the popular Signature Loungers with prime views. Most seats will provide easy access to power outlets. Additionally, the Lounge will showcase a curated collection of artwork by Alaskan artists. According to Todd Traynor-Corey, managing director of guest products, this project is part of Alaska Airlines’ broader initiative to enhance Lounge experiences across its network.
Marilyn Romano, regional vice president of Alaska for Alaska Airlines, highlighted that this renovation is a significant aspect of the airline’s Great Land Investment Plan, a $60 million commitment to various projects throughout the state over the next few years. The expanded Lounge will immediately benefit members and guests with additional space, seating, and Alaska's renowned thoughtful service.
Alaska Airlines Lounges provide a space for guests to relax and recharge, offering complimentary fresh, seasonal food items throughout the day, and a wide array of beverages, including hand-crafted espresso drinks, West Coast wines, brews, and custom-crafted cocktails.
The Alaska Lounge Membership Program offers two tiers: the standard membership grants access to all Alaska Lounge locations, while the Alaska Lounge+ membership extends access to over 90 partner lounges worldwide. Alaska Airlines operates nine Lounges at six airports, including three in Seattle, two in Portland, and one each in Anchorage, Los Angeles, New York JFK, and San Francisco. Membership also includes generous guest policies and access for certain elite members traveling on oneworld member airlines.
