Alaska Airlines Launches Seasonal Nonstop Flight Between Portland and New Orleans
Starting January 2025, Alaska Airlines will introduce its first nonstop flight from Portland to New Orleans. This daily service will run until mid-May, coinciding with New Orleans' renowned Mardi Gras festival. Tickets for the new route are available for purchase from June 19.
The new route marks Alaska Airlines' 55th nonstop destination from Portland International Airport. Departing at 9:05 a.m., passengers will arrive in New Orleans by 3:30 p.m., allowing ample time to explore the city. The return flight leaves at 4:35 p.m., reaching Portland by 7:50 p.m.
Alaska Airlines, the largest carrier in Portland for over two decades, continues to enhance its network. The new Portland-New Orleans service highlights the airline's commitment to offering diverse travel options. Kevin Dolliole, Director of Aviation for Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, expressed excitement about the new route, noting Portland as a previously unserved destination.
The new route builds on Alaska Airlines' recent expansions, including new nonstop flights to Nashville and Atlanta. Additionally, the airline has increased the frequency of flights from Portland to popular destinations such as Anchorage, Ontario, Reno, and Santa Rosa, achieving over 100 daily departures this summer.
Dan Pippenger, Chief Aviation Officer at the Port of Portland, welcomed the new service, emphasizing the anticipated growth in travel between the two cities. Alaska Airlines' continuous investment in Portland includes plans for a new Alaska Lounge set to open in 2026, enhancing the travel experience with premium amenities.
