Alaska Airlines Reintroduces Hot Meals to Main Cabin
Alaska Airlines has announced the return of hot meals to its Main Cabin inflight menu, starting today. This service will be available on most flights over 1,100 miles and includes a variety of chef-curated dishes, enhancing the airline's inflight dining options.
Passengers in Premium Class and the Main Cabin can choose from up to five meal options, including at least one hot meal. These meals are available exclusively through pre-order, reflecting Alaska Airlines' commitment to offering more dining choices than any other U.S. airline.
In recent months, the airline's Food & Beverage teams have worked to expand their hot meal offerings on medium- to long-haul flights. Todd Traynor-Corey, managing director of guest products, mentioned that the decision to reintroduce hot meals was driven by frequent passenger requests.
The new menu was developed with the input of Chef Tony Wright, who has extensive experience in the culinary industry. The menu features West Coast-inspired dishes, incorporating fresh ingredients and feedback from passengers.
Before the launch, the new meal options were tested by Alaska Airlines employees. Flight attendant Naomi S.G. highlighted the Carnitas Breakfast Bowl, while her colleague Krystal G. praised the Pretzel Roll Sliders.
The new hot meal options include:
- Carnitas Breakfast Bowl: Available on eastbound flights and to Hawaii during breakfast.
- Monte Cristo Breakfast Sandwich: Served on westbound flights and from Hawaii during breakfast.
- Panang Curry Chicken: Available on eastbound flights and to Hawaii for lunch/dinner.
- Pretzel Roll Sliders with Chips: Offered on westbound flights and from Hawaii for lunch/dinner.
Meals are priced between $8 and $11.50, with a 20% cashback offer for purchases made with an Alaska Visa Signature® or Visa® Business card. Passengers can pre-order their meals via the Alaska mobile app or the airline's website from two weeks to 20 hours before their flight.
