The city is introducing new measures to combat the negative effects of mass tourism, including a ban on increasing accommodation capacity in hotels and the redistribution of entertainment venues to less crowded areas. These efforts complement previously implemented initiatives such as restrictions on building new hotels, regulations for short-term rentals, reductions in tourist transport, and bans on the consumption of certain substances in central areas. These measures have already shown positive results, including reduced nighttime noise levels, but further steps are needed to address the challenges of overtourism.

Among the new initiatives are expanded restrictions on activities in central districts, such as shorter operating hours for entertainment venues, stricter enforcement against public order violators, and the creation of a fund to purchase properties contributing to tourist congestion. The city is also strengthening its collaboration with national and international partners to address issues related to the uncontrolled growth of tourist flows.

In many popular European cities, new rules for tourists are being introduced to reduce the negative impact of mass tourism and improve the quality of life for local residents. For instance, Florence has banned the installation of key boxes for short-term rentals in its historic center and the use of loudspeakers by tour guides during excursions. These measures aim to preserve cultural heritage and reduce noise pollution.

These local measures, aimed at addressing tourism's impact, align with broader initiatives across Europe to create a more sustainable and secure travel environment. Starting in 2025, the European Union plans to implement the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), requiring citizens of non-EU countries to obtain prior travel authorization. This new system is designed to enhance security and better manage migration flows.

Tourists are advised to familiarize themselves with these new rules and requirements before traveling to ensure a comfortable stay and avoid potential fines. Proper preparation not only helps to avoid misunderstandings but also allows travelers to fully enjoy their destinations. Additionally, planning visits during off-peak seasons can help reduce overcrowding and provide a more relaxed experience. Adhering to local laws and respecting cultural norms will contribute to a positive experience for both visitors and local residents.
