Amtrak Introduces New Seasonal Menus with a Focus on Sustainability at Moynihan Train Hall
Amtrak has launched an exciting range of new menu options in the Metropolitan Lounge at Moynihan Train Hall, NYC, showcasing a commitment to both culinary innovation and environmental sustainability. These changes, effective immediately, offer Amtrak passengers enhanced dining experiences as they travel.
The upgraded menu features monthly rotations of dishes prepared directly in the Lounge's kitchen, minimizing waste and removing almost all plastic packaging and individually packaged products. This shift not only improves the quality of food offerings but also significantly reduces Amtrak's environmental footprint. The use of elegant china, glassware, and cutlery further underlines Amtrak's commitment to sustainability.
Eliot Hamlisch, Amtrak Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the importance of these changes. "Our new offerings are designed to enrich the Amtrak experience, allowing our guests to enjoy high-quality, sustainable dining options while contributing to a reduction in their carbon footprint," he stated.
Among the notable additions to the breakfast menu are a pepper jack cheese muffin, avocado toast, and overnight oats, with Amy’s Bread pastries and street corn hummus available for snacks. The lunch and dinner selections have been equally refreshed with items such as grilled chicken ciabatta baguette, Santa Fe chicken flatbread, and a poached pear, blue cheese, and pecan salad.
This menu overhaul is part of a broader initiative by Amtrak to elevate its food and beverage service across the board, which includes new offerings in Acela First Class and updates to Café Acela expected later this season. The Metropolitan Lounge at Moynihan Train Hall remains an exclusive benefit for Amtrak Guest Rewards® Select Executive and Select Plus members, among others, featuring luxurious seating and an impressive view of the Train Hall from its balcony.
Moynihan Train Hall, recipient of the World Architecture and Design Award at UNESCO’s Prix Versailles, continues to stand as a symbol of beauty and innovation in passenger station design and service excellence. This latest update from Amtrak not only enhances the travel experience but also aligns with modern demands for sustainability and quality.
