Austrian Airlines Expands Winter Flight Offerings in Innsbruck
Austrian Airlines is enhancing its winter flight schedule for 2024/2025 by significantly increasing its service between Vienna and Innsbruck, and introducing new direct connections to major European cities. From the end of October 2024 through March 2025, the Vienna-Innsbruck route will operate up to three times daily, providing travelers with increased flexibility.
Starting in December, Austrian Airlines will offer weekly direct flights from Innsbruck to Brussels, Copenhagen, and Warsaw, continuing through early March. Additionally, the airline will maintain its weekly service to Amsterdam throughout the winter season.
During the peak ski season, Austrian Airlines will introduce charter flights from Innsbruck to Stockholm and Billund, catering specifically to ski tourists. These new routes aim to support the Tyrolean economy by making the region more accessible to international travelers.
CCO Michael Trestl emphasized the airline’s commitment to Tyrol, stating, "With our expanded flight offer between Vienna and Innsbruck, we now provide our guests with greater flexibility and four direct tourist connections to Tyrol. We see ourselves as part of the Tyrolean economy, and our commitment is reflected in our flight program."
The Managing Director of Innsbruck Airport, Marco Pernetta, expressed enthusiasm about the new offerings, noting the increased frequencies on the crucial Vienna-Innsbruck route and the addition of new European routes on winter weekends as a significant boost for Innsbruck as a travel hub.
In addition to Austrian Airlines' expanded services, Lufthansa will continue to operate the Innsbruck-Frankfurt route 11 times weekly, facilitating global connections via Frankfurt. The Lufthansa Express Bus, which began in summer 2024, will also continue in winter with up to four daily trips to the Munich hub.
These enhanced flight schedules and new connections are poised to benefit both domestic and international travelers, particularly those heading to the Tyrolean ski resorts. The added routes and increased frequencies demonstrate Austrian Airlines' commitment to bolstering Innsbruck's accessibility and supporting the local economy.
