Austrian Airlines Launches Nonstop Flights from Vienna to Boston
On July 1, 2024, Austrian Airlines inaugurated its first nonstop flight from Vienna to Boston, marking a significant expansion of its long-haul network. The new route will be served by a Boeing 767-300, offering up to six flights per week and providing year-round service.
The launch event, held at Vienna Airport, featured Austrian Airlines CCO Michael Trestl and Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport, who celebrated the new destination with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, culinary treats, and a sketch artist capturing the moment.
Michael Trestl expressed enthusiasm about the new route, highlighting Boston's appeal to both leisure and business travelers. The addition of Boston increases Austrian Airlines' intercontinental destinations to 18, with a total of more than 125 worldwide travel locations.
The flight schedule includes departures from Vienna at 10:40 a.m. and arrivals in Boston at 1:50 p.m. local time. Return flights leave Boston at 5:10 p.m., arriving in Vienna at 7:25 a.m. local time. This new connection will not only facilitate travel for passengers but also enhance Vienna's position as a global travel hub.
Julian Jäger emphasized the importance of the US market for Vienna Airport and the benefits of the new Boston route for North American travel. The expansion aligns with Austrian Airlines' strategic growth and modernization plans, which include adding eleven Boeing 787 Dreamliners to their fleet.
Norbert Kettner, Managing Director of Vienna Tourist Board, noted the positive impact on Vienna's tourism and conference sectors. The strengthened connection to the US supports Vienna's economic growth and solidifies its status as an international destination.
