Avelo Airlines Introduces Nonstop Flights Between Destin and New Haven
Avelo Airlines has launched nonstop service between Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) in Florida and Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) in Connecticut. This new route connects the Florida Panhandle's Emerald Coast with Southern Connecticut, offering passengers another travel option with fares starting at $90 one-way.
The service will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, using Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. Flights are available for booking on the Avelo Airlines website.
Andrew Levy, Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO, highlighted the new route's potential to make travel between the regions more accessible. Okaloosa County Commission Chairman Paul Mixon noted the benefits for both local residents and visitors.
The inaugural flight featured commemorative boarding passes, treats, and a reception by Avelo Airlines representatives. The airline aims to attract travelers looking to explore the cultural offerings of Southern Connecticut and the beaches of Florida’s Emerald Coast.
New Haven, home to Yale University, boasts a variety of restaurants, theaters, museums, and shopping venues. The city was recently listed in the New York Times 2023 "52 Places to Go."
Avelo Airlines, which began operations in April 2021, serves 52 destinations across the United States. The airline focuses on underserved routes and smaller airports, aiming to provide a straightforward travel experience.
