Avelo Airlines Launches New Base at Sonoma County, Expands Route Network
Avelo Airlines inaugurated its sixth aircraft base today at the Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport (STS), marking a significant expansion in the airline's operations. This strategic development doubles the number of nonstop routes available from the Bay Area, enhancing regional connectivity.
From its new base at STS, Avelo has added four new destinations: Portland/Salem, Oregon; Boise, Idaho; Tri-Cities/Pasco, Washington; and Kalispell, Montana. These new routes are in addition to existing services to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, and Bend/Redmond, positioning Avelo as the leading carrier from STS in terms of nonstop offerings.
The expansion reflects Avelo's commitment to the Bay Area and its focus on serving mid-sized markets. "Sonoma County Airport holds a special spot in Avelo’s history, serving as the destination for our first flight," stated Andrew Levy, Founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines. He emphasized that the new base supports the airline's mission to provide more convenient and affordable travel options.
This growth initiative is supported by the recruitment of 32 new crewmembers based at STS, with Avelo planning to increase its local workforce by the end of the year. The airline is also promoting introductory fares starting at $69 to attract travelers to explore its new routes.
The expansion at Sonoma County is set to provide a significant boost to local tourism and improve accessibility for Northern California travelers, offering them direct routes to key destinations across the United States. Avelo’s increasing network from STS also promises enhanced travel flexibility and continued economic growth for the regions connected by these new flights.
