Avelo Airlines Launches Nonstop Flights from Knoxville to Southern Connecticut
Avelo Airlines announced the commencement of an exclusive nonstop service between Knoxville’s McGhee Tyson Airport and Tweed-New Haven Airport in Southern Connecticut today. This marks the first nonstop connection linking the Great Smoky Mountains with Connecticut, promising a seamless journey for travelers between these two regions.
Operated twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, the service will employ Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. The new route offers attractively low one-way fares starting at $77, making travel between East Tennessee and the New England and New York areas more accessible and affordable.
Andrew Levy, Founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines, expressed excitement about the launch. "We’re thrilled to introduce Avelo’s low fares and convenient travel options to Knoxville. This route not only simplifies access to Southern Connecticut but also opens a gateway to the broader New England and New York regions," he stated.
The inauguration was celebrated with special events, including a water cannon salute and commemorative boarding passes, highlighting the festive atmosphere surrounding this new travel option. Representatives from Avelo Airlines were present on the nearly full inaugural flight, emphasizing the airline's commitment to this new service.
Tweed-New Haven Airport serves as a strategic point in this route, offering easy access to the vibrant city of New Haven, known for its rich cultural scene and historic Yale University. The airport is well-positioned to connect travelers to the wider New England and New York areas, thanks to its proximity to major highways and railways.
This new service by Avelo not only enhances connectivity between Tennessee and Connecticut but also aligns with the airline's mission to inspire travel through convenience and affordability. As this route develops, it promises to bring significant benefits to both regions, boosting tourism and fostering closer ties.
