Avelo Airlines Reaches 25,000 Passenger Milestone at Salem Airport
Avelo Airlines recently announced a significant achievement, having flown over 25,000 customers from Salem Municipal Airport (SLE) in Oregon, just seven months after commencing operations at this strategic location. The airline now connects SLE with major destinations including Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) in Los Angeles and Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas.
In October 2023, Avelo revitalized air service to SLE, becoming the first commercial airline to operate there in nearly 15 years. This development has reinvigorated the Greater Portland and Mid-Willamette Valley region by providing a more convenient travel option for residents and visitors. Celebrating this milestone, Avelo has introduced promotional one-way fares starting at $70, making air travel more accessible to the Bay Area’s Sonoma County Airport (STS) and beyond.
Andrew Levy, Chairman and CEO of Avelo Airlines, expressed his enthusiasm about the positive reception from travelers and the community. He emphasized the airline's commitment to affordability, convenience, and reliability, which have contributed to their early success at Salem Airport. Levy also highlighted plans to continue this growth trajectory, aiming to serve another 25,000 customers in the coming months.
Avelo's operation at BUR has been particularly noted for its efficiency and customer satisfaction. BUR was named the "Best U.S. Airport" by Fodor’s Travel in 2019, thanks to its streamlined services, quick baggage delivery, and shorter TSA lines. This has made BUR a favored gateway to Los Angeles, enhancing the overall travel experience for Avelo’s customers.
Further expanding its reach, Avelo will soon begin service to Sonoma County, offering travelers a gateway to California’s renowned Wine Country and the wider Bay Area, known for its scenic beauty and tourist attractions. This new route underscores Avelo’s strategic expansion to serve key leisure destinations, promising a blend of convenience and adventure for its passengers.
