Azores Airlines Launches New Direct US & Canada Flights to Porto
Azores Airlines has introduced new direct flights from the United States and Canada to Porto, Portugal. This expansion comes shortly after the airline commenced flights to Madeira and as the SATA Group celebrates its 77th anniversary. The new weekly services connect Porto with New York, Toronto, and Boston.
The new routes bring Northern Portugal, particularly the city of Porto, closer to North America, enhancing connections between regional business centers and promoting tourism. Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is renowned for its architecture and the nearby Douro Valley, the birthplace of Port wine.
Graça Silva, Director of Sales, Marketing, and Communication at SATA Group, highlighted the significance of these flights, noting their appeal for both leisure and business travelers. The new daytime eastbound flights are designed to arrive in Europe late in the evening, rather than the next morning, offering convenience for passengers.
These flights will be operated by EUROATLANTIC Airways using a Boeing 767, marking an expansion from the current all-Airbus fleet of Azores Airlines. The StopOver Azores program offers travelers the option to stay in the Azores for up to seven days, allowing for more flexible travel itineraries.
Azores Airlines will face no competition on the Porto to Boston route, while the New York City area route will compete with United Airlines and TAP Air Portugal. The Porto to Montreal route is served by Air Transat, which operates five weekly flights.
This new service underscores Azores Airlines' commitment to strengthening transatlantic connections and providing more travel options for passengers between North America and Portugal's Northern Region.
