Bulgaria Air and Azerbaijan Airlines Announce New Codeshare Partnership
In May 2024, Bulgaria Air entered a significant codeshare partnership with Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), initiating a direct flight route between the capitals of Bulgaria and Azerbaijan.
Passengers of Bulgaria Air can now book direct flights from Sofia to Baku and vice versa, with services available twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. The new route, operational from June 7, 2024, also provides connections to various popular Asian destinations via Baku.
The bilateral agreement between the two airlines ensures convenient schedules and seamless connections for passengers traveling from Azerbaijan to Varna, Burgas, and other destinations within Bulgaria Air’s European network. This cooperation aims to enhance travel options and improve accessibility for travelers from both nations.
Azerbaijan, a fascinating nation at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, offers abundant business and tourism prospects. Baku, its capital, is the largest city on the Caspian Sea and the Caucasus region. The city is renowned for its rich history, cultural monuments, numerous museums, and prestigious universities, making it an attractive destination for visitors.
Historically, Sofia and Baku have been key cultural and trade hubs in their respective regions. Sofia, known for its stunning Orthodox churches and Roman ruins, offers a glimpse into Bulgaria's rich past. Baku, with its blend of ancient and modern architecture, provides travelers with a unique window into the cultural and historical evolution of Azerbaijan. This new route will not only foster tourism but also strengthen cultural ties between the two historic capitals.
