The cost of car rental in 2024 may be much lower than before. This is great news for travelers planning to visit popular tourist destinations.
According to a study by Which?, rental prices are on average 47% cheaper than in 2023. This became possible due to the solution of supply chain and production problems that have affected the car rental market in recent years, the Independent writes.
The most significant price reduction is expected in the summer:
- Rhodes, Greece: -38% (£160)
- Alicante, Spain: -34% (£116)
For Easter, a significant price reduction is expected:
- Funchal, Madeira: -35% (£412 in 2023 vs £266 in 2024)
- Lanzarote: -33%
- Corfu: -47% (£158 in 2023 vs. £84 in 2024)
Naomi Leach, deputy editor of Which? Travel, recommends choosing carefully the companies that offer accommodation and cars. She advises tourists who are planning a vacation:
- Be attentive to the sales tactics used by some providers
- Do not chase the lowest price, which may be "too good to be true"
- Choose trusted companies or use the services of a reliable broker
