Cheapest Week to Travel During School Summer Holidays Revealed
Families looking to save money on their summer holidays have new data to consider when planning their trips. According to Skyscanner, a leading search aggregator and travel agency, the week of August 19th is the cheapest time to fly during the school summer holidays.
This data shows that UK travelers can save an average of 17 per cent by choosing to travel in this week instead of the beginning of the holidays. Specifically, this can translate to an average saving of up to £268 for a family of four compared to traveling on July 22nd.
In addition to overall savings, Skyscanner also highlighted specific destinations where travelers can find particularly good deals. For instance, the week commencing August 5th is the most affordable time to visit Dublin, with average flight prices at £65. Meanwhile, flights to Copenhagen are cheapest during the last week of August, averaging £87. The week starting August 12th is the best for those looking to visit Ibiza, with flights costing around £138.
Traveling outside of peak season offers more than just financial benefits. According to Positive News, one of the key advantages is fewer crowds. This means shorter queues at popular tourist attractions such as the Mona Lisa in Paris and La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Even traditionally busy destinations like Greece and Sicily experience a significant drop in visitor numbers outside of the peak season.
Moreover, the cost of accommodation also tends to be much lower. Positive News reports that in Faro, Portugal, accommodation prices can be up to 50 per cent cheaper outside of peak season. This trend of increased affordability extends to many other popular holiday destinations, making off-peak travel a smart choice for budget-conscious holidaymakers.
