Croatia Airlines Marks 35th Anniversary with New Airbus A220-300 and Major Fleet Renewal
On August 7, Croatia Airlines celebrated its 35th anniversary by launching the first international flight with its new Airbus A220-300, operating on the Zagreb – Frankfurt route. This flight holds symbolic significance as it echoes the airline’s inaugural international route from 1992. Over the past 35 years, Croatia Airlines has solidified its standing in Europe, consistently offering reliable passenger and cargo transportation services.
On the same day, Croatia Airlines also operated the first flight of the new Airbus A220-300 on a domestic route from Zagreb to Split. This flight marked the beginning of a major project to renew the company’s fleet, which is planned to be completed by 2027. The project involves replacing older aircraft with more modern and efficient models, which should enhance the airline’s competitiveness.
The fleet renewal includes the delivery of 15 new Airbus A220 aircraft, which will allow Croatia Airlines to expand its route network and improve travel conditions. The project is accompanied by an update to the company’s visual identity, reflecting its commitment to improving service quality and strengthening its market position.
Frankfurt and Split, connected by Croatia Airlines flights, are important transport hubs and popular tourist destinations. Frankfurt, as Germany’s largest financial center, attracts not only business travelers but also tourists with its historic center and numerous cultural attractions. Split, on the other hand, is known for its ancient Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, as well as its picturesque beaches and proximity to famous Adriatic islands such as Hvar and Brač, making it an ideal starting point for a journey through Dalmatia.
Thus, the introduction of the new Airbus A220-300 into service and the renewal of Croatia Airlines' fleet open up new opportunities for comfortable and eco-friendly travel both within the country and beyond its borders. These changes strengthen the airline’s position in the international market and enhance Croatia’s appeal as a key tourism and transport hub in Europe.
