A large-scale eruption occurred at Mount Lewotobi on the Indonesian island of Flores, resulting in the death of at least ten people, including a child and a nun. The event took place at midnight, as the volcano spewed a dense column of brown ash up to 2000 meters high. The eruption caused fires and significant destruction in nearby villages.

Authorities evacuated approximately 10,000 residents from seven surrounding settlements, establishing a seven-kilometer exclusion zone around the crater. Local residents reported panic, heightened by power outages and heavy rain with lightning accompanying the natural event. The eruption sparked alarm in the local community, which feared further consequences.

Indonesia, located on the so-called Pacific "Ring of Fire," has over 120 active volcanoes, making it one of the most seismically active countries. Frequent volcanic eruptions in this region lead to significant damage and often claim lives. This geographic feature requires local populations to be highly vigilant and prepared for natural disasters.

Despite natural hazards, Indonesia remains an attractive destination for tourists. Among such destinations is Bali, known as the "Island of the Gods," with picturesque beaches, temples like Tanah Lot and Uluwatu, and enchanting rice terraces. Bali offers travelers the chance to enjoy nature, engage in surfing, and attend cultural events.

Another popular location is Yogyakarta, the cultural heart of Java. This city is famous for its historic temples, Borobudur and Prambanan, as well as artisanal workshops and shadow puppet theater, allowing travelers to experience traditional Indonesian culture. Here, tourists can immerse themselves in Indonesia's art and heritage, discovering centuries-old traditions.

For those planning to visit regions with active volcanoes, it is crucial to follow local authority recommendations and stay aware of current seismic activity. Checking information about volcano conditions and possible restrictions for visitors in advance can reduce risks during the trip. It's also advisable to follow essential safety rules when visiting such areas.
