Delta and American Express Relaunch Popular Airplane Metal Credit Card Design
Delta Air Lines and American Express are bringing back their popular limited-edition Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card, crafted from retired Boeing 747 aircraft. This special card design, available for new and existing Delta SkyMiles Reserve and Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business American Express Card Members, will be offered from April 25 to June 5, 2024, while supplies last. The card is designed with a unique cloud-white color and is made from two Delta Boeing 747 aircraft that had been in service for over 27 years.
The initial launch of the card in 2022 received significant acclaim, with many cardholders appreciating its unique design and connection to the iconic Boeing 747, one of aviation's most renowned aircraft. The card features specific details from the aircraft, including its tail number, history, and the total miles flown during its service.
The new card's release follows recent enhancements to the Delta SkyMiles American Express Cards that aim to enhance the travel experience and provide additional value for cardholders. Prashant Sharma, Vice President of Loyalty at Delta Air Lines, emphasized the card's symbolic connection to Delta's rich history, saying it represents a nod to the airline's past while embodying the innovative spirit that drives the airline forward.
Jon Gantman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cobrand Product Management at American Express, noted that this relaunch honors the iconic "Queen of the Skies" while offering aviation enthusiasts a piece of history they can carry in their wallets.
The Delta SkyMiles Reserve and Reserve Business American Express Cards offer premium travel benefits for Delta loyalists, including an enhanced Companion Certificate each year after renewal, MQD Headstart to help members reach status, miles accelerators, and access to exclusive reservations through Global Dining Access by Resy, among other benefits.
