Delta and Riyadh Air Forge Strategic Partnership to Expand Global Travel Options
Delta Air Lines and Riyadh Air have signed a Strategic Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding to enhance travel connectivity and premium options across North America, Saudi Arabia, and beyond. The agreement was formalized at a ceremony at Delta’s World Headquarters in Atlanta on July 9, 2024.
The partnership aims to offer a wide range of benefits for travelers, including future Delta services between the U.S. and Riyadh. This collaboration will see Delta as Riyadh Air's exclusive partner in North America, and Riyadh Air as Delta's exclusive partner in Riyadh and beyond.
By strengthening connectivity and expanding networks, both airlines plan to drive future growth. This long-term relationship, subject to regulatory approvals, will include interline and codeshare connectivity, loyalty programs, customer experience enhancements, and broader aviation services such as maintenance, repair, and overhaul services.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the shared commitment to providing an elevated customer experience. Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas echoed this sentiment, emphasizing common goals in guest experience, loyalty, and sustainability.
The collaboration is poised to open new destinations in Saudi Arabia and beyond for Delta customers, including nonstop service between the U.S. and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. It will also provide Riyadh Air customers access to Delta's extensive North American network.
Riyadh Air, set to begin operations in 2025, aims to build a premier carrier in the Middle East. Delta, approaching its 100th anniversary, continues to lead with its global network and reputation for outstanding customer service.
This partnership aligns with Saudi Arabia’s significant investments in tourism, which include luxury resorts on the Red Sea and the upcoming 2030 Riyadh Expo. The cooperation promises to enhance both leisure and business travel, offering new opportunities and destinations for global travelers.
