Direct Flights from Varna Open Doors to New European and Middle Eastern Destinations

Wizz Air has announced a notable expansion of its Varna operations, adding five new routes and increasing flight frequencies on three existing connections. The changes, which begin rolling out from 31 March 2025, include new services to Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt-Hahn, Nuremberg, Leipzig, and Tel Aviv. Each route will be operated multiple times weekly, and fares start from BGN 50.99. This marks the airline’s effort to strengthen Varna's role as a regional transport hub.
Starting 14 April 2025, passengers will benefit from more frequent departures to Berlin, Dortmund, and Memmingen—routes that have seen growing demand. These changes take place while Wizz Air also bases its 2nd aircraft in Varna, adding to the number of Bulgarian planes in its fleet at eight. The airline’s focus on enhancing travel options from the Black Sea region reflects a long-term commitment to improving Bulgaria’s air connectivity with major European and Middle Eastern destinations.

Direct flights to destinations such as Abu Dhabi and Leipzig give travelers vastly different experiences. Abu Dhabi is the entrance of UAE desert regions, museums and cultural complexes. Meanwhile, Leipzig—a newcomer to Varna Airport’s year-round schedule—presents travelers with a rich blend of art, music, and history, now reachable without transfers through major hubs. These new routes offer easier access to the areas that Varna never had its scheduled flights to.
The resumed connection to Tel Aviv and regular flights to German cities also create more room for flexible travel plans. Whether it’s exploring Tel Aviv’s Mediterranean coastline or connecting from Frankfurt-Hahn to other parts of Europe, travelers will have broader options for city breaks and extended itineraries. Now Nuremberg with its medieval streets and Memmingen, just by the Bavarian Alps are easier to reach for Bulgarian tourists.

For travelers departing from or arriving in Varna, this expansion represents a significant improvement in both convenience and destination variety. The new routes decrease the dependency from Sofia or transfer airports cutting down time as well as streamlining logistics. Whether for leisure or business, passengers now have an expanded network that supports both spontaneous getaways and long-term planning, reinforcing Varna’s growing relevance on the European travel map.
