Durham Fringe Festival 2024: A Must-Visit for Travelers
As the Durham Fringe Festival 2024 approaches, travelers have a unique opportunity to experience a vibrant cultural event in the heart of Durham’s City Centre from July 24 to July 28. The festival is set to provide an array of performances, all while encouraging sustainable travel options.
In preparation for the festival, performers collaborated with Go North East, the region’s largest bus operator, to highlight the ease of accessing the event via public transportation. The colorful gathering in Durham’s historic Market Square featured poets, comedians, and folk musicians, signaling an exciting preview of what attendees can expect.
Festival Manager Sally Dixon noted the impressive turnout and the energetic atmosphere that the performers brought to the city center. This enthusiasm is a small sample of the vibrant environment planned for the last week of July.
The Durham Fringe Festival 2024 promises to be the largest yet, with 250 shows and 90 performers across eight venues. For travelers, this means a rich selection of dance, drama, comedy, magic, music, and family-friendly performances, all set against the backdrop of Durham’s charming cityscape.
To enhance the experience for travelers, the festival emphasizes the use of public transport. Bus fares are capped at just £2, making it an affordable option for festival goers. Additionally, ticket prices are kept at 2023 levels, at £9 per show (£6 concessions), with family tickets available for £20 for two adults and up to two children. The new Discover ticket offers the chance to enjoy three different shows for £20, adding value for those looking to explore multiple performances.
