easyJet to Open 10th UK Base at London Southend Airport
easyJet will open its 10th UK base at London Southend Airport next March, significantly benefiting passengers with more flight options and destinations. This new base will house three A320neo aircraft, launching six new routes to popular leisure spots for summer 2025, creating around 130 direct jobs and supporting many more indirect positions.
Passengers will enjoy increased convenience and choice as easyJet expands its operations. The new routes from London Southend will include destinations such as Pisa, Gran Canaria, Dalaman, Antalya, Marrakech, and Enfidha. This move is part of easyJet's strategy to meet the growing demand for air travel, especially during peak holiday seasons.
London Southend Airport, with its convenient rail connections to central London, will become an even more attractive option for people from East London, Essex, and East Anglia. The airport already serves locations like Amsterdam, Geneva, and Paris Charles de Gaulle, making it a key hub for easyJet since operations began there in 2012.
John Upton, CEO of London Southend Airport, highlighted the benefits of the new base, emphasizing how it will provide local travelers with more options and quicker access to their destinations. The airport's award-winning terminal experience and quick connections to London make it a practical choice for those looking to start their holidays sooner.
In addition to the new routes, easyJet holidays will be available daily from 1 May 2025, offering comprehensive holiday packages to these new destinations. This expansion means that more customers will have access to easyJet's services, which include competitive fares and a broad network of routes.
