Emirates Doubles Daily Airbus A380 Flights to Amsterdam
Starting October 27, Emirates will increase its Airbus A380 flights to Amsterdam to twice daily, marking a return to pre-pandemic service levels last seen in 2020. Amsterdam has been a key part of Emirates' network since 2010, with the A380 introduced on the route in 2012.
Expanded Schedule
Emirates’ updated schedule shows significant changes for flights between Dubai and Amsterdam. The additional A380 service will replace the previously scheduled Boeing 777-300ER, resulting in the following daily departures (all times local):
- Dubai to Amsterdam:
- 03:15-07:50 (777-300ER)
- 08:10-12:40 (A380)
- 15:20-20:00 (A380)
- Amsterdam to Dubai:
- 10:35-20:20 (777-300ER)
- 14:30-00:10+1 (A380)
- 22:00-07:45+1 (A380)
This switch will increase seating capacity from 360 to 519 seats per departure, a 44% rise. The change will add six first-class seats, 34 business seats, and 119 economy seats per flight. In total, Emirates will offer 1,398 seats daily from Amsterdam, doubling for round trips.
Passenger Connections
Data from the first four months of 2024 indicates that 63% of Emirates passengers from Amsterdam connect to other flights in Dubai. The most popular destinations include Thailand, India, Indonesia, Australia, and the Philippines. Specifically, Amsterdam-Bangkok was the top route, followed by destinations like Denpasar Bali, Phuket, Jakarta, Manila, and Colombo.
A380 Presence in Europe
Emirates operates passenger flights to 40 European airports, with the A380 serving 19 of these destinations as of November. The frequency of A380 flights varies, with some destinations seeing multiple daily services:
- Six daily A380 flights: London Heathrow
- Three daily: London Gatwick, Manchester, Paris CDG
- Twice daily: Amsterdam, Moscow Domodedovo, Milan Malpensa (one flight continues to New York JFK), Munich
- Daily: Barcelona, Birmingham, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Istanbul Airport, Madrid, Nice, Rome Fiumicino, Vienna, Zurich
This strategic expansion highlights Emirates' commitment to enhancing its European network and meeting the growing demand for premium travel experiences.
