Enhanced Bus Services Transform Travel in West Cumbria
Traveling through West Cumbria is about to become more convenient and eco-friendly thanks to a significant £1 million investment. Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire are rolling out new minibuses specifically for the Workington and Whitehaven areas, aiming to make local travel more efficient and enjoyable.
Starting this week, visitors and residents will see four new minibuses on the roads, with additional vehicles joining soon. This upgrade is part of a broader initiative, which recently included a £100,000 enhancement to Stagecoach’s engineering facilities at Lillyhall, complete with new staff hires to ensure top-notch service by the end of June 2024.
The minibuses, manufactured in Britain, are equipped with the latest e-leather seats and "Euro 6" low-noise engines. These features not only offer a comfortable ride but also represent the forefront of clean engine technology, significantly reducing carbon emissions in the region. These modern vehicles are set to replace some of the older models in the fleet, ensuring a more pleasant travel experience.
Tom Waterhouse, Managing Director at Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire, is excited about the new additions. He emphasized the critical role of reliable bus services for both residents and tourists, showcasing Stagecoach's commitment to high-quality, dependable transportation.
The new minibuses are designed with accessibility in mind, featuring low floor access and dedicated spaces for wheelchair users. This ensures that all travelers, including those with reduced mobility or carrying shopping, can comfortably use the services, enhancing the overall travel experience in West Cumbria.
With this significant investment, Stagecoach is not only improving the quality of local transportation but also making travel in West Cumbria more sustainable and user-friendly. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor exploring the area, these new minibuses promise a smoother, greener, and more convenient journey.
