Enhanced Park and Ride Service Boosts Travel to Stratford-upon-Avon
Travelers to Stratford-upon-Avon have more convenient options this summer, thanks to the expansion of the Stratford Park and Ride service. The facility, located along Bishopton Lane, now operates its bus service seven days a week, making it easier for visitors to access the town center.
This service aims to accommodate a wide range of visitors, including families, couples, and tourist groups. The buses run from Monday to Saturday between 7:30 AM and 6:28 PM, and on Sundays from 10 AM to 6:55 PM. The car park offers over 700 spaces, including EV charging points, and is open daily.
The Park and Ride buses run every 15 minutes, providing a quick 10-12 minute journey into Stratford-upon-Avon’s town center. The fare structure is also traveler-friendly, with adult return tickets priced at £2 and group return tickets for up to five people available for £3.30. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on board.
For those who prefer an active approach, the Park and Ride offers a scenic 1.75-mile canal towpath leading into the town center. This route, part of the National Cycle Network Route 5, can be walked in about 40 minutes or cycled in less than ten, offering a picturesque alternative to the bus service.
Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Transport and Planning, Cllr Jan Matecki, noted that last summer saw a significant increase in Park and Ride users. The service provides a user-friendly, low-cost alternative for day trips to Stratford-upon-Avon, while also helping to reduce traffic congestion in the town center.
