Enhanced Train Services for Oxford United's Play-Off Final
On Saturday, May 18th, Chiltern Railways will be providing an expanded timetable to accommodate fans traveling to Wembley Stadium for Oxford United's League One Play-Off Final against Bolton Wanderers.
To facilitate the increased demand, a high-capacity train service will run between Oxford Parkway/Bicester Village and Wembley Stadium/London Marylebone. This service will feature additional and extended trains both before and after the match.
Due to the enhanced service from Oxford Parkway, Chiltern Railways will not operate any trains to Oxford station for the entire day. This decision was made to optimize capacity for traveling customers, as the trains from Oxford Parkway are too lengthy for the bay platforms at Oxford station. However, a limited rail replacement bus service will be available between Oxford and Oxford Parkway.
For a smoother journey, passengers are encouraged to commence their travels from Oxford Parkway, which boasts ample car parking facilities and convenient local transport connections to and from Oxford City Centre.
Given the expected surge in passengers, a queuing system will be implemented at Oxford Parkway before the match to ensure efficient and safe boarding onto trains. Thus, travelers are advised to arrive at the station early and allow ample time for their journey.
Additionally, a queuing system will be in place at Wembley Stadium after the match, with Chiltern staff working diligently to expedite the movement of supporters.
As services and stations are anticipated to be busier than usual, passengers are urged to plan ahead, check for updates before traveling, and purchase tickets in advance via the Chiltern Railways website or app to avoid lengthy waits at ticket offices and machines.
