Europe’s Viral Mega-Spa Coming to the UK
Therme, Europe's largest spa, is set to open in Manchester by 2025, bringing its unique wellness experience to the UK.
Therme București, a 44,000-square-metre spa in Romania, has been a top attraction since 2016. Just a short drive from Bucharest’s airport, it features the largest urban beach and indoor botanical garden in Europe, with 800,000 exotic plants and giant palm trees. The spa offers ten saunas with thematic aufguss sessions, a Germanic sauna ritual blending dance, music, and aromatherapy. This ritual, involving the wafting of scented steam through a sauna, provides a unique and theatrical experience.
Therme prides itself on being the world's first fully sustainable thermal spa. Its design incorporates natural materials like bamboo and wood, and includes a Himalayan salt "salt library" for air purification. At Elysium, the luxury area, treatments range from bee venom massages to herbal stamp therapies. Visitors can indulge in a variety of massages, such as the herbal stamp massage, which uses a hot cheesecloth of ancient herbs to press and pull the body, offering a deeply relaxing experience.
The main thermal pool area, The Palm, offers various wellness activities, including water aerobics in a vibrant, Ibiza-like atmosphere. The terrace provides a view of synchronized routines under flashing neon lights. Therme also houses a massive waterpark with 17 slides, making it a comprehensive leisure center for families. Parents often leave their children at the waterpark while they enjoy the spa’s offerings.
Visitors can enjoy all these amenities with an all-access pass, starting from £32. Therme București operates from 9am to midnight on weekends and 10am to 11pm on weekdays.
Therme Manchester will span 29 acres, featuring an all-season indoor beach, over 30 steam rooms, an on-site farm, and a waterpark with 18 slides. This marks the beginning of a UK-wide rollout, with future locations planned for Glasgow, London, and Wales. Get ready for a unique spa experience coming soon!
