Evening Bus Service in Wetherby Expands Travel Options
Wetherby is introducing a new late-night bus service aimed at improving transport access for both locals and tourists. Starting from the end of October two thousand and twenty-four, the Harrogate Bus Company will launch an additional service on route X99, which will operate six days each week. This option will provide a convenient choice for those wanting to experience the town’s nightlife, including its bars and dining venues, without the need for personal vehicles.
The late service will commence at Deighton Gates shortly before eleven in the evening and leave Wetherby Bus Station just after eleven at night, stopping at notable locations like Linton and East Keswick before reaching Collingham. The usual fare system, including the two-pound fare cap valid until early spring of twenty-twenty-five, will apply. This experimental service will operate for a period of half a year, after which its performance will be assessed.
For visitors, the extended service makes Wetherby a more convenient destination for evening activities. The market town is well-known for its historic atmosphere, and travelers can now more easily enjoy its independent pubs, unique eateries, and traditional events. Attractions like the scenic River Wharfe and nearby Wetherby Racecourse will also become easier to reach for those journeying from surrounding areas.
Wetherby is also home to several annual events and venues that may now see an increase in visitor numbers due to the added bus route. The Wetherby Film Theatre and the Georgian Bathhouse are some of the distinctive places that attract guests who are interested in the town's rich cultural heritage. The improved bus service strengthens the town’s transportation network, making it a more appealing stop for visitors touring the region.
For tourists, this service offers more flexibility and convenience when organizing trips around Wetherby and its neighboring villages. It enables visitors to make the most of the town’s evening offerings, knowing that dependable transport is available until late. This added route will also be helpful for those who prefer public transit, minimizing the need to rely on costly alternatives like taxis.
Overall, the introduction of this bus route is expected to boost Wetherby's appeal as a travel destination. For tourists, the extended service brings more opportunities to explore the town’s local charm and enjoy its various attractions, while taking advantage of a practical and affordable transport option.
