Feel the freedom: benefits and hottest destinations for independent travelers
Further development of the tourism industry around the world opens up new opportunities for those who like to travel alone. Today, visiting various tourist destinations on your own is becoming more and more relevant.
Valerie Joy Wilson, a travel content creator from Los Angeles, explains that she has made more than 100 solo trips and noted that this is her passion, which gives her an incomparable sense of independence. Traveling alone means that you can make your own decisions on your own schedule, Fox News quoted the traveler as saying.
Among the reasons why she likes to travel independently, the woman emphasizes the ability to immerse herself in different cultures and effectively explore different parts of the world.
"Every trip is a testament to my ability to navigate the unknown, overcome challenges and adapt to new conditions. It's a constant reminder that I can literally conquer the world," she said.
In turn, Pamela Holt, an expert on individual travel, said that traveling alone literally changed her life. "After I was about thirty years old and had a serious car accident that left me almost immobilized, I made an 80-50 promise to myself. If I was lucky enough to make a full recovery, I would have traveled to 80 countries by the time I turned 50," she said.
At the age of 54, Holt said she has traveled to more than 92 countries and territories on her own. The woman claims that traveling on her own has given her confidence in everyday life.
And one of her favorite parts of traveling solo is meeting new people along the way. "In my decades of traveling, I've realized that it's almost impossible not to meet new friends when traveling alone," she said.
At the same time, both women shared their top destinations for individual travelers to include in their 2024 bucket list. In particular, they recommend Jordan in the Middle East as a place that is known for "its safety, affordability, and wide range of adventures."
They also recommend Kenya, which is another great stop for solo travelers to put on their list, mainly because of its safari offerings. Among other things, they recommend considering Hanoi in Vietnam as an affordable destination for individual travelers.
Among other things, the women also suggest visiting Bali, which they call "an ideal destination for those who like a slow pace." Both experts mentioned Thailand as a great place to stay during solo endeavors.
