Five locations in Las Vegas have been treated for bed bugs, four cases of bed bug infestation detected
Recently, the public was alarmed by the news of bed bugs in four Las Vegas hotels. The insects found in the beds caused concern among travelers planning to visit the city and stay in clean rooms.
According to USA Today, from September 2023 to January 2024, at least four guests found pests in their rooms. However, all necessary measures have already been taken.
Inspectors from the Southern Nevada Health District confirmed that bed bugs were found at Encore, Venetian, Excalibur Hotel & Casino, and Mirage. At Encore, a specially trained bedbug sniffing dog was deployed on December 5, 2023, following a guest complaint.
The Nevada Resort Association, which protects the interests of the gaming and resort industry, assures that bed bug cases are "extremely rare and isolated."
"The health and safety of guests is the highest priority for the resort industry," the statement said.
According to the association, the four rooms that were found to have bed bugs over a nearly five-month period represent a very small fraction of the 155,000 hotel rooms that receive 41 million visitors each year.
Each of the hotels where bedbug complaints were confirmed reportedly responded "appropriately" to the problems.
The Nevada Resort Association claims that Las Vegas uses comprehensive health and safety measures and pest control procedures to prevent problems.
As TravelWise previously reported, fake complaints about bedbugs have begun to spread in Athens to scare away tourists.
