Flydubai Expands Its Reach in Europe with Direct Flights to Basel and the Baltics
Flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, is set to enhance its European network significantly by launching direct flights to Basel, Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius. This expansion makes Flydubai the first UAE national carrier to establish routes to these cities. Starting from August 2, 2024, these new services will operate from Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, marking a significant milestone in connecting the Middle East to Switzerland and the Baltic region.
Flydubai's network in Europe will now include 44 destinations across 21 countries, facilitating increased connectivity from Dubai's aviation hub. The service to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg will commence on August 2, while flights to the capitals of Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania—Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius—will begin on October 11 and 12, respectively.
Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at Flydubai, highlighted the airline's commitment to linking underserved destinations with Dubai, noting strong demand and confidence that the new routes would offer a reliable travel experience. Monica Linder Guarnaccia, Chief Marketing Officer at EuroAirport, also expressed enthusiasm for connecting the Basel region to Dubai, emphasizing the city's economic significance and the enhanced access to global destinations provided through a codeshare with Emirates.
Flight Details and Future Plans
The flights to Basel will operate four times a week, while services to Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius will occur three times weekly. With competitive fares, these routes not only promise to open up new travel possibilities but also signify Flydubai's growing role in international aviation as it resumes seasonal summer routes to destinations like Mykonos and Dubrovnik.
Flydubai's strategic expansion into Europe underscores its position as a dynamic player in global aviation, connecting diverse cultures and economies through Dubai's bustling international airport.
