Georgia has received a historic income from tourism
Georgia's revenues from international tourism amounted to $4.1 billion in 2023, marking a 17.3% increase compared to 2022 and a 26.2% rise compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
These figures were reported by the National Statistical Office of Georgia (Geostat). However, the average expenditure per tourist decreased to $344 in 2023, reflecting a 15.9% decline from 2022.
The growth in revenue was primarily fueled by a surge in tourist arrivals. In 2023, Georgia welcomed 7.1 million international tourists, representing a 75.6% increase from 2019 and a 30.3% increase from 2022.
The majority of tourists to Georgia came from Russia (1.42 million people, or 23% of the tourist flow), Turkey (1.4 million, 21%), and Armenia (962,500, 13.5%).
The number of Ukrainian tourists visiting Georgia slightly decreased to about 160,000 last year.
