Iberia Expands Record Capacity Between Europe and Latin America for 2024
Iberia is set to offer over 5.3 million seats between Europe and Latin America in 2024, marking a 16% increase from 2023 and a 20% rise from pre-pandemic levels. This expansion includes the introduction of more A350 aircraft, the largest and most efficient in the Iberia fleet, to enhance connectivity to 16 countries in the region.
Argentina, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico will see the largest capacity increases. In 2024, Iberia will operate over 320 flights a week, a significant rise from the 280 flights recorded during the previous summer season.
Several markets will benefit from this expansion. Argentina will see three daily flights, representing a 50% increase from the previous winter season. Brazil will have 14 weekly flights to São Paulo and increased frequencies to Rio de Janeiro. In Colombia, the Bogotá-Madrid route will maintain 21 weekly frequencies, equaling the capacity in the Mexican market.
Peru will benefit from 13 weekly flights, ensuring two daily flights almost every day. Santiago de Chile and Ecuador will also see increased frequencies, with Quito having daily flights and Guayaquil three times a week. Montevideo in Uruguay will maintain one daily flight, and Caracas in Venezuela will consolidate five weekly flights.
In the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico will experience significant capacity increases, with more weekly flights throughout the year. Central American routes to Costa Rica, Guatemala, and El Salvador will continue to have daily flights, while Panama will see four weekly frequencies.
Iberia's strategic capacity increase highlights its dedication to enhancing travel options and connectivity between Europe and Latin America, benefiting millions of travelers and boosting tourism and business ties between the regions.
