IndiGo Flight Diverted to Nagpur After Bomb Threat Found on Board
A bomb threat on an IndiGo flight from Jabalpur to Hyderabad led to an emergency diversion to Nagpur on Sunday. The incident occurred when a handwritten note with the words "Blast 9.00 am" was discovered on a piece of toilet paper inside the aircraft's lavatory. The note was found stuck to the commode seat, causing immediate concern among passengers and crew.
The flight, identified as 6E 7308, was carrying 69 passengers and four crew members. Shortly after the discovery of the threat, the flight made an emergency landing at Nagpur Airport at approximately 9:20 am. Upon landing, all passengers were safely disembarked, and a thorough security check of the aircraft was initiated. Emergency services, including fire tenders, ambulances, and a quick reaction team from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), were on standby at the airport to manage the situation.
IndiGo issued a statement apologizing for the inconvenience caused to passengers and ensured that they were provided with assistance and refreshments during the unexpected delay. The airline also confirmed that a detailed investigation into the bomb threat had been launched.
According to sources at the airport, the flight had already crossed Nagpur when the threat was detected, prompting the aircraft to take a U-turn and return to Nagpur for the emergency landing. Security personnel at Nagpur Airport conducted a meticulous examination of all passenger belongings as part of the investigation.
This incident follows a similar event earlier in August when an Air India flight was diverted to Thiruvananthapuram Airport after a bomb threat, which was later determined to be a hoax. The probe into the latest bomb threat on the IndiGo flight is ongoing.
