Intrepid Travel Launches New Rail Travel Range
Intrepid Travel announces a new range of rail journeys, featuring 40 routes, including three entirely new ones: Trans-Mongolian Railway Adventure, Express to the Orient: Paris to Istanbul, and Paris to Rome by Rail. This initiative addresses the growing demand for train travel, with 75% of travelers interested in incorporating train trips into their plans.
The new rail itineraries by Intrepid focus on sustainable tourism by replacing internal flights with less carbon-intensive options. This approach is part of the company's global decarbonization strategy.
Among the new routes, the Trans-Mongolian Railway Adventure stands out. This 11-day trip, priced at $4595 AUD, follows the historic path of ancient tea caravans from Beijing to Ulaanbaatar. The journey features sights like the Gobi Desert, Khustai National Park, and the bustling streets of Ulaanbaatar.
Another exciting route is the Express to the Orient: Paris to Istanbul. This 15-day journey, priced at $5995 AUD, follows the legendary route of the Orient Express, stopping in Strasbourg, Munich, and Salzburg before concluding in Istanbul. The blend of historical charm and modern comfort makes this trip unique.
The Paris to Rome by Rail trip offers a 10-day journey through the heart of Europe, priced at $5570 AUD. Travelers will traverse the Alps on the Gotthard Panorama Express, enjoying breathtaking views and cultural and culinary experiences. The itinerary includes scenic hikes, visits to medieval castles, and a farm-to-table cooking demonstration in Italy.
An Intrepid survey of 2800 travelers from the UK, US, Canada, and Australia revealed that 87% of respondents are willing to consider alternative transportation options to reduce their carbon footprint. This highlights the importance of sustainability in modern travel.
The launch of these rail journeys is a key component of Intrepid's decarbonization efforts. The company is actively replacing flights with buses and trains where possible, providing additional cultural experiences for its travelers.
