JAL Announces Fuel Surcharge Rates for International Flights in August and September
Japan Airlines (JAL) has set the fuel surcharge rates for international flights purchased in Japan between August 1 and September 30, 2024. Here's what travelers need to know:
- Japan to Korea and Far East Russia: JPY 4,000
- East Asia (excluding Korea and Mongolia): JPY 9,200
- Guam, Palau, Philippines: JPY 12,000
- Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore: JPY 18,500
- Hawaii, Indonesia, India: JPY 22,500
- North America, Europe, Middle East, Oceania: JPY 35,000
JAL determines its fuel surcharge rates every two months based on the average price of Singapore kerosene-type jet fuel. For April and May 2024, the average price was USD 99.41 per barrel, with an exchange rate of JPY 154.78 per USD, leading to JPY 15,387. These figures influenced the decision to maintain the surcharge in Zone J for the next two months.
These surcharges apply to both Japan Airlines-operated flights and code-share flights with partner airlines, pending government approval. Travelers are encouraged to check JAL's official website for the latest updates on fuel surcharge policies.
By keeping these rates stable, JAL aims to help passengers plan their travel expenses better during the busy summer months. This announcement provides predictability for travelers, ensuring they can manage their budgets effectively despite fluctuating fuel costs.
In addition to offering consistent surcharge rates, JAL continues to focus on providing quality service and a reliable travel experience for its passengers. As fuel prices and exchange rates remain volatile, the airline's commitment to transparency and stability is crucial for maintaining customer trust and satisfaction.
