Japan Airlines Expands Inflight Options With Paramount+

Japan Airlines (JAL) will integrate Paramount+ with its inflight entertainment system, beginning April 2025 for international flights and domestic routes starting in May. This arrangement is the first time a Japanese airline has come to the global streaming giant with the objective of offering passengers with a richer and broader range of media while they fly.
These new entertainment offerings will be available on all JAL/J-AIR operated aircraft and limited to JTA operated planes via inflight wifi. The content selection will vary based on the aircraft and route but will feature a rotating catalogue of well-known Paramount+ titles, including acclaimed dramas, action series, and family-friendly programming.
This advancement provides greater flexibility when in the air. Long hauls are bound to have some downtime and consolidated activities, particularly for a transcontinental journey. Premium streaming content in the form of entertainment serving passengers with improved means of passing the time may also add to passenger enjoyment and flight experience via segmented entertainment for various tastes & age groups.
In addition, this upgrade indicates the personalization in air travel has started. Streaming is just becoming a normal part of daily life that having it in-flight at 30,000 feet helps to make flights feel more homely and connected. Families can benefit from kid-friendly content, while solo travelers and business passengers can enjoy access to globally recognized shows and movies that might otherwise require their own subscriptions or downloads.
This move by JAL strengthens the airline's competitive edge by aligning with current traveler expectations. The availability of quality entertainment on board can make the difference between a tiring flight and an enjoyable journey. For passengers, especially those flying long-haul, this change signals a more comfortable and connected future in the skies.
