Jazz Train Set to Entertain Travelers on Wensleydale Railway
Later this month, Wensleydale Railway will host a special Jazz Train event to support Macmillan Cancer Support. Scheduled for Saturday, June 22, the event will begin at 6:30 pm at Leeming Bar station, offering an evening of music and community fundraising.
The Swale Valley Stompers Jazz Band will provide live music throughout the event, performing both on the platform at Leeming Bar and on board the train during the journey to Leyburn. Guests are encouraged to bring their own picnic and prosecco to enjoy during the trip, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
The evening's activities will commence with music and dancing at Leeming Bar station before the train departs at 7:30 pm for a round trip to Leyburn. The band will continue to entertain passengers both on the train and at Leyburn station, ensuring continuous entertainment throughout the journey.
In addition to the musical performances, the event will feature a charity raffle and an auction of promises, with all proceeds benefiting Macmillan Cancer Support. This offers attendees a chance to contribute to a worthy cause while enjoying a unique travel experience.
To facilitate attendance, Wensleydale Railway plans to provide bus services from Osmotherley, arranged by band member Peter Edmonds, and from Thirsk. Return bus tickets are priced at £8, contingent on sufficient demand.
Tickets for the Jazz Train event are available for £22. This evening promises a memorable experience combining travel, music, and community spirit, set against the scenic backdrop of Wensleydale's late daylight.
