KLM Launches Year-Round Flights Between Amsterdam and Portland
Starting October 27, 2024, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will introduce a direct service between Amsterdam and Portland, Oregon. The new trans-Atlantic route will feature three weekly flights during the winter season and increase to five weekly flights in the summer, marking KLM's 21st direct destination in North America.
KLM's new route will take over the existing nonstop service currently operated by Delta Air Lines, a partner in KLM's trans-Atlantic joint venture. Delta has been flying between Amsterdam and Portland for the past 15 years, solidifying the connection between the two cities.
The flights, operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft, will offer 30 seats in World Business Class, 21 seats in Premium Comfort Class, and 224 seats in Economy Class. This expansion is set to enhance connectivity and provide more travel options for passengers throughout the year.
Starting from October 27, 2024, KLM's winter schedule will include flights on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The summer schedule, beginning in 2025, will extend to flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The winter flight KL615 will depart Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) at 10:25 a.m. and arrive in Portland (PDX) at 11:25 a.m. local time. The return flight KL616 will depart Portland at 1:25 p.m. and arrive in Amsterdam the next day at 7:50 a.m. local time.
In the summer, flight KL615 will depart Amsterdam at 10:40 a.m., arriving in Portland at 11:30 a.m. local time. The return flight KL616 will leave Portland at 1:30 p.m., arriving in Amsterdam at 7:55 a.m. local time the next day.
This strategic move by KLM will not only provide more travel flexibility but also strengthen the airline's presence in North America, benefiting both business and leisure travelers.
