Lithuania demands all cars with Russian license plates be taken out of the country by March 11
Lithuanian authorities demand that all cars with Russian license plates be taken out of the country by March 11.
This is stated on the Lithuanian customs website. "By March 11, car owners must either register their vehicles in Lithuania or leave the EU. Starting March 11, those who own cars with Russian license plates will be considered to have violated the provisions of the law and will be liable under Article 515 of the Administrative Code, which provides for a fine and confiscation of the car," the statement said.
The exception is cars in transit to and from the Kaliningrad region, which will be able to stay in Lithuania for 24 hours wit the owner in the car. Otherwise, the vehicle will not be allowed to enter the country.
Earlier, TravelWise reported that the Latvian government has decided to extend restrictions on the entry of Russian citizens into Latvia until next spring, given the security threat from Russia.
