Loud and obnoxious: American woman shares her experience of living in Australia
An expatriate from the United States who has a blog about life in Australia told us how Americans are treated in the country. Tay Marin has been living in Australia for the past 6 years and runs a TikTok account under the nickname @taytaymarin.
In her video, Marin urged her compatriots to be restrained abroad because they may be perceived as "loud and obnoxious." This was reported by the New York Post.
According to Marin, Americans are not "world leaders," and therefore should be more modest and calm abroad. In addition, she advised some Americans to "pick up a map," "learn to be sarcastic," and learn more about the rest of the world before travelling.
"We’re seen as some pretty crazy people. You know how everyone from the U.S. thinks everyone from Florida is crazy? That’s how the world feels about us," Marin said in her viral video.
It is noted that her call to fellow citizens sparked a heated discussion among subscribers in the comments. However, despite the criticism of some Americans, most of the audience agreed with the blogger's opinion.
